What is Flavour?

Flavours are used to impart or modify the odour and/or taste of the foods to which they are added. Flavours may also be used to mask the unpleasant taste and smell in the final product in food and pharmaceutical industries.

The flavour formulas, depending on the production technology, include various carriers/solvents and food additives in order to obtain a homogeneous blend between the components that give the odour and taste to the flavours, to dissolve them and facilitate industrial usage. Flavours are not intended to be used as is by end consumers; they are added to product formulas during production, in “g/kg” – “g/l” ratios.
